Congress Center Hamburg CCH
The CCH is the oldest congress center in Germany. It was opened on April 14, 1973 and is used for congresses, trade fairs, concerts or exhibitions.
The CCH was renovated between 2017 and 2021. In the course of the modernization and expansion, it was necessary, among other things, to find new concepts for the voice alarm system. The almost 30-meter-high, invitingly designed foyer impresses with its clear and open structure. This large space, which extends over four floors, had to be sounded, as did Hall 1, Hall 3, Hall 4 and Hall Z.
During the planning phase, simple concepts were sought that would enable the quick and easy integration of powerful loudspeaker systems into a voice alarm system (SAA) that would also blend harmoniously into the rooms architecturally. The challenge in the large halls was to achieve homogeneous direct sound distribution with a small number of loudspeakers and thus obtain good STI (speech transmission index) values.
The choice fell on the active loudspeaker models PB 16, PB 24, PB 32 and PB 40 from the Pan Beam series. The loudspeaker systems with 100V interface can be conveniently used in a 100V SAA and in electroacoustic emergency systems (ENS) in accordance with the applicable standards DIN 0833-4 and DIN EN 50849. Functions such as monitoring by pilot tone evaluation, existing relay contact as well as redundant cabling make this possible without any problems.
In other areas of the CCH, additional EN 54-24 certified loudspeakers of the P 04-EN54 and P 08-EN54 models from the Pan EVAC series were installed. The Pan EVAC systems are characterized by powerful speech reproduction and passive beam steering. The passive beam steering with 4° tilt allows the speaker to be mounted vertically on the wall. This ensures optimal integration into the overall architectural appearance and also results in high direct sound, which in turn brings better STI values.
In total, 16 Pan Beam and 10 Pan EVAC systems were installed.
